My name is Konstantine Krutiy, also known as KK. I have spent over 20 years in the technology industry. In recent years I have been managing teams which build, configure, monitor and keep available mission critical 24×7 production environments. At the core, these environments are composed of clustered or distributed databases, some of which reach a petabyte scale.
Originally I was studying to become a software engineer, but in addition I was genuinely interested in a computer’s electronic internals. As a result I have acquired a unique blend of skills which allows me to understand all the layers of computing environments. These skills start at the microscopic parts of a CPU, and follow through to the computer’s hardware, operating system, middle tier software and all the way up to the GUI elements.
My database expertise was built by working with databases on all levels throughout my career (DBA, Architect, Manager, Director). I have acquired multiple certifications from industry leaders such as Oracle, Microsoft, EMC and ITIL. My involvement in installation, configuration, maintenance, design and tuning has given me a deep understanding of all of the areas of a database system’s lifecycle.
My passion for databases has given me a desire to spark the same interest in other people. In order to do this, I have started speaking at conferences, participating in expert panels, and keeping a blog.
